Frequently Asked Questions

2D – Your traditional two-dimensional, black, white and gray ultrasound image.

3D – Three-dimensional, realistic, flesh toned images.

4D – 3D videos in live motion.

5D/ iLIVE- High-definition. Crisper, clearer, most defined images.

5D ultrasound adds another layer of realism to the picture of your baby by producing a 3-dimensional image with realistic reddish-pink tones. The “flesh tone” can give the feeling of looking at your baby right inside the womb.

According to both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), there is no evidence that ultrasounds harm a developing fetus. The exams don’t use radiation or x-rays.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!  Your imaging session at Over the Moon is strictly an elective ultrasound. Please note, at no time is this elective experience to be confused with, or used in place of medical care or a diagnostic ultrasound. We are not a diagnostic center nor will we ever offer any medical advice since we are not doctors and we are performing ONLY elective ultrasounds that basically allows us to take images, create videos and capture fetal heart rate for the pleasure of families experiencing their baby before birth. If we do see something wrong during the scan, we will advise you to see your physician. We DO require however that you currently are under prenatal care and if you have any concerns, you should ask your doctor.

3D ultrasounds are 100% elective. These ultrasounds are not diagnostic in any way, they DO NOT replace prenatal care from your doctor and are not covered by insurance.

While anytime is a great time for the visualization of your baby however, gender determination is most accurate if made between 15-18 weeks. During this stage in pregnancy, your baby is very active. If your baby is awake you will see your baby kick, wave, open their mouth, etc. At 19-26 weeks your baby’s features are filling out more. By 27-40 weeks, your baby is generally head down which is preferred. Prior to that the fat has not yet defined the baby and while 3D ultrasound images are obtainable, truly beautiful ultrasound images require fat deposits and fetal development. This is the best time to get up close, detailed images of your baby’s face in 3D/4D/iLive. The detail gets more amazing the further along you are! Many mothers obtain more than one 4D ultrasound and have images to enjoy of their baby growing

No, you get two for the price of one! Please consider coming in around 28 weeks for facial detail with twins! Two babies take up more space which can make it difficult to see both babies as they grow!

Get hydrated! While it is beneficial to keep hydrated throughout your entire pregnancy, we recommend drinking plenty of water the week leading up to your ultrasound. This aids in producing clear and optimal images. Do not eat a large meal up to 2 hours prior to your appointment as this may cause your little one to fall asleep. You may drink juice and have a snack before your appointment to ensure baby is awake and active. You do not need a full bladder for these ultrasounds.

All appointments are between 15-30 minutes long. However, we do allow one hour in between scheduled appointments in order to ensure we provide a memorable bonding experience for you and your family.

It is our number one priority to obtain the absolute best images of your baby & make sure you are satisfied to the fullest. We use the top of the line ultrasound equipment to ensure this, however, some factors that determine the outcome of your ultrasound are out of our control such as: location of your placenta, the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby, the clarity of the amniotic fluid, the baby’s position, & the overall fetal environment. If we are unable to determine the gender of your child or obtain 3D/4D images at your scheduled appointment due to these factors mentioned above, you may come back within 14 days at no charge for a second appointment.

Please understand that even if baby does not cooperate, or there are factors that prevent 4D imaging, we have still performed a service and we must bill for your time in the studio.

Absolutely! We encourage you to bring your family, children and friends to share this special moment with you.

We also understand not everyone is able to attend you are more than welcome to bring your own device into our studio and use Skype or Facetime or any other apps for those distant friends & family members!

Simply cancel or reschedule the appointment. We require 48 hours notice of a cancelation in order to receive a full refund. Unfortunately, no shows will not be issued a refund.
